Pied Piper raises £70,000 in two June weekends

Gloucestershire children’s charity, the Pied Piper Appeal, has raised £70,000 across two weekends that featured a concert, a classic car show and then a Right Royal Ball.

On Saturday 10 June, they held their first live concert – a party in the Park!

An excited crowd arrived to set up tables, gazebos, chairs and picnics in the gardens of Highnam Court and watch two fantastic tribute bands – Bootleg ABBA and Queen One Vision – with dancing til 10 pm.

On Sunday the children’s charity had its biggest one-day car show since launching the first one in 2010. This year featured 400 classic cars, big trucks all parked in the beautiful gardens and a variety of song and dance entertainment on the main stage. Afternoon teas, games stalls, children’s rides and attractions completed the family show.

The following weekend was the charity’s annual Right Royal Ball at the Leonardo Hotel which saw just under 200 guests dine and dance the night away to live music and entertainment.

Nick Broady, chairman of the Pied Piper said: “I am very pleased to announce that the back-to-back two weekends raised over £70,000 which was incredible. We are so grateful to all who came to support our events and were overwhelmed by the number of visitors across both June weekends. The feedback has been fantastic.”

“Thanks also must go to our headline sponsors – Malvern Tyres, APM Fire & Security – and the many local county businesses who supported us with donations, their people and further sponsorship to help us stage the events. But we couldn’t do it without the help of many volunteers who kindly gave Pied Piper their time and enthusiasm.”

“We are grateful to our main Ball sponsor Butterworth Spengler SW and the support from Beards Jewellers, Gloucester Glass, the Ivy Cheltenham and Gloucester Carpet Outlet plus all our guests who came to the Leonardo Hotel.”

The two events will donate funds to help several projects in Gloucestershire which include: large-scale artwork at the GRH Children’s Centre, memory-making Wish holidays for children with life-limiting illnesses, Acuvein equipment at GRH, facilities in the children’s department at the new Cinderford community hospital, a garden build for Heart Heroes, Bettridge school play equipment, a new playground for SANDS Trust Sladewood Academy and a sensory room at Foxmoor school, in Stroud.
