How We Help
In Hospitals
We provide the latest equipment for the children mainly in the Children’s Centre at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital but also equip waiting areas at paediatric outpatient areas in all the hospitals in the County. We also have a bursary to send the nurses on training courses so that they can be as knowledgeable in their field as possible.
SEND Schools In Gloucestershire
Heart of the Forest | Alderman Knight | Paternoster | Belmont | Bettridge | Milestone | Shrubberies | St Roses | Battledown CC | Ridge Academy | Peak Academy
We are proud to support and work with all 12 SEND schools in Gloucestershire. Supporting the special needs schools is an important pillar of the Pied Piper and new collaborations in 2022 will extend our reach in the community even further in Gloucester, Cheltenham, the Forest of Dean, as well as Stroud, Dursley, Cirencester and Tewkesbury!
We have donated funds for many projects including a people carrier to Paternoster, ceiling hoists to St Roses, playground and sensory equipment to the Heart of the Forest, sensory equipment to Belmont.
Pied Piper also helped fund a sensory room at the Music Works in Gloucester city centre from an online auction. The Music Works is a community music organisation in the county that focuses on disabled children and young people and works with all the SEND schools providing the latest music technology to really expand music for disabled young people and significantly increase opportunities for them.
The Chamwell Centre
Three years ago, Pied Piper was honoured and excited to pledge a staggering £500k, paid over several years, to kickstart a county-wide appeal for fundraising for the Chamwell Centre. The Chamwell Centre is an amazing space showcasing a ground-breaking, state-of-the-art facility supporting the needs of disabled children in Gloucestershire.
Across the campaign over £5million was then raised and the centre officially opened in September 2021.
We are proud to have also financed an outdoor play area at the Milestone School which is sited in the same grounds as the Chamwell Centre. The soft play area is open to all disabled children in the county.
Wish Holidays
The Pied Piper Appeal sends children with life-limiting illnesses and their families on Wish Holidays. The holidays are tailored to the needs of the child and the family to make everlasting memories.
Mental Health
Paediatric mental health is the fastest growing area that we support and help make a difference. We have helped uplift communal areas at Wootton Lawn and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to give young people an increased positive experience.
We continue to increase our support of facilities and environments to help support children and allow for a more positive consultation and treatment.
The Journey Boxes project shines some much needed light and a bit of joy to young children and youth who are struggling.
This is the inspiration of Jasmine Beever, our Pied Piper Young Ambassador for children admitted to hospital with mental health challenges. The boxes are filled with the sorts of things she would have liked when she was admitted over two years ago and help brighten any hospital appointment or stay. She said that suffering with mental health illness is a journey and even at the age of 16 she is still on her journey.
As mental health has increased for young people, the boxes are in great demand and Jasmine is doing a fantastic job in meeting this demand. If you would like to support these boxes through the Pied Piper Appeal, please contact our office.
What we’ve achieved so far…
None of this would be possible without the continued support of local Volunteers and the Businesses in the County and we thank them all very much.
