Pied Piper ‘Heading’ to New HQ to Support Future Growth

Gloucestershire children’s charity The Pied Piper Appeal has relocated from its long-standing office at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to new premises at Headway House on Great Western Road, marking a significant milestone in the charity’s continued growth and development.

After decades based within Gloucester Royal Hospital, the charity has long outgrown its existing office space as demand for its funding support across the county continues to increase. The move to nearby Headway House provides expanded office accommodation alongside serviced facilities, meeting rooms and a dedicated boardroom to support collaboration, networking and future development and revenue opportunities.

Located at 8, Great Western Rd, Gloucester GL1 3EP, Headway House is also the HQ for another local charity, Headway Gloucestershire, who provide support and rehabilitation for those suffering from head injuries or those caring for head injury patients and family members.

Julie Reader-Sullivan, CEO at Headway, said: “We welcome The Pied Piper Appeal to Headway House. This is a fantastic example of how just networking with people and being open to opportunities can reap positive outcomes. Headway Gloucestershire support adults with an acquired brain injury and their family/carers throughout Gloucestershire.’

The relocation comes at an important time for the charity as it prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary next year and positions the charity for continued expansion over the next five to ten years.

Despite the move, The Pied Piper Appeal remains fully committed to its long-standing partnerships with hospitals across Gloucestershire, including Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, continuing to support the Children’s Centre and paediatric services, funding NHS bids as one of the charity’s four core pillars. Recently Pied Piper funded a new vein finder for the Children’s Centre, and supported Oncology Matters for the children with cancer on EKU.

In addition to supporting county hospitals, the charity continues to provide vital support for the growing number of SEND schools, paediatric mental health services and Wish Holidays for children with life-limiting illnesses, helping families create lasting memories during incredibly difficult times.

Over the last year, The Pied Piper Appeal approved 30 projects valued at £220,000, including projects at GRH, SEND schools, community projects and Wish holidays and reaching more than 35,000 children across Gloucestershire.

A new partnership with Cheltenham Festivals, helps extend access to the popular literature, science and jazz festival events for SEND children across the county through the provision of free tickets and experiences.

The Pied Piper Appeal thanks the many local individuals, community groups and businesses whose ongoing support continues to make its work possible. An army of red and blue volunteers help to stage the many events, and the charity’s two retail shops create a positive presence in their local communities with a recycle-reuse sustainable approach to living.

The charity’s flagship fundraising event, the Classic Car Show at Highnam Court on 14 June, continues to play a major role in supporting its work, alongside a growing calendar of sporting and fundraising events including Cheltenham Race Week activities.

Julie Kent, Pied Piper Chair of Trustees, added: “The move to Headway House represents an exciting new chapter for the charity and co-locating with another like-minded organisation is beneficial. As demand for our support continues to grow across Gloucestershire, this new base gives us the space and facilities we need to expand our reach and be in the best position to continue supporting children and families who need us most.”
