Frequently Asked Questions
Who does the Appeal help?
The Appeal currently helps over 10,000 sick children in need of treatment and healthcare both in hospital and in the community across Gloucestershire.
Does the charity only help critically ill children?
The Pied Piper Appeal helps children regardless of their illness or whether they are critically ill, requiring minor treatment or are having regular hospital appointments.
I thought the NHS was paying for the hospital. Why do we need to raise more money?
The NHS simply cannot provide some of the facilities that we wish to give our children. These include more medical equipment, nurses to become available to go out into the community to provide care at home; better learning and play equipment, and entertainment for our children.
I don't live in Gloucester. Will my children use any of the facilities?
Children from around the county will be referred to the hospital as it becomes a centre of excellence for children's health care throughout Gloucestershire.
What will my donation pay for
We have various projects we are raising money for, if you would like to discuss these in more detail please call the office on 08454 226119. Our News section and our Newsletter give the latest details. The charity is striving to provide items of equipment, facilities and an environment for the paediatric services in the County that simply cannot be provided with NHS funding.
How much extra will the Appeal get if I 'Gift Aid' my donation?
If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be worth an additional 28p in the £1 to the Appeal by completing the 'Gift Aid' section of the donation form.
My school wants to get involved. What can I do

My company is looking for a charity of the year. Can you help me?

Why did we need a new Children's Centre?
The Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, although providing excellence in medical care for children for many years, did not have a dedicated facility in which to provide this care. The Children's Centre is a purpose built unit specially designed for the needs of children and their families whether they are visiting as an outpatient or needing an overnight stay.
I want to get involved. What can I do?
If you would like to help you can make a donation, join one of the Pied Piper's fundraising events, or organise your own event
